I made this card a few weeks ago but just got around to taking a photo of it. I got the idea from a scrapbook page that I saw somewhere recently (of course I don't remember where, though). I love the new Jewelry Tag Punch!

I also recently discovered how incredibly easy it is to make square envelopes, so I used some extra DSP to make an envelope for this card.

Here is another page I made of our trip to Gatlinburg. I am really trying to scrapbook more moments than just events. My biggest problem (in my mind anyway) is finding my voice to say what I really want to convey in my journaling. I'm just going to keep doing it knowing that it will get better over time.

Vacation Page

Wow, life seems to travel at lightning speed these days. Since I last posted, we went on a week long vacation to Gatlinburg, TN; I celebrated another birthday; homeschooling continued; children keep growing; many meals were cooked; lots of laundry was done; more snow than I can imagine fell; I made some super cute purses with some fabric, the Big Shot, and the Scallop Square die (but no photos).

Here is a 2-page layout spread I just did today of the boys sliding at the indoor waterpark on our trip. They had so much fun on that slide!

Have I mentioned how much I love My Digital Studio? These pages were so easy to put together using it. I made the film strip look with punches. I hope to have more done to share tomorrow. If you have any questions on how I make any of the elements to my pages, please let me know because I'm happy to share that here.

Baby Monkey

The hardest part of this card was cutting out the monkey, and that wasn't all that difficult. I did use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the stripes perfectly straight. Other than that, this card is super cute, super quick, and super easy!!
I am so lovin' all the new things I've gotten from the Occasions Mini and Sale A Bration catalogs!!

The Hat

My mother-in-law taught me how to crochet and Kala how to knit over Christmas. Kala was a champ at knitting immediately. I have tried it in the past, but couldn't ever really get into it. I think crocheting is more my thing. I'm not very coordinated, so only having one needle - or hook - is easier for me. I finished my first hat in just over a week. It turned out super cute, and Kala absolutely loves it.
I'm really trying to get more things in scrapbook pages, since My Digital Studio makes it soooo super easy. I made this page from idea to completion in 35 minutes. Not bad in my book. Have questions about My Digital Studio?? Email or call me to find out more.

Man, do I ever think those words often these days!! But this time it has nothing to do with me. Back in November, we took a drive down to Natural Bridge, VA. It was a beautiful fall day, so we decided to go on the hike (or nature walk) that is on the grounds there. Our children all do a great job of hiking, for the most part. It could be that we started them all very young.
Anyway, on to the scrapbook page. I am having a lot of fun using My Digital Studio to do scrapbook pages. They seem to come together quite easily. I have been looking at old layouts from a Simple Scrapbooks book to gather ideas. I hope these inspire you to put together some simple, but meaningful pages soon.

Stampin' Up! has some fabulous new products coming out next week in the Occasions Mini Catalog and the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. As a demonstrator, I was able to pre-order a few of these things.
I was working on an idea for a card the other night, and it just wouldn't turn out the way I wanted. Does that ever happen to you? I think I tried 4 versions of a card before a new, simpler idea came to me. I absolutely adore this card. I know, it seems so simple, but that's what I love about it!!

Here is the last of my children's portraits that I have been working on. I've really been trying to step up my photography skills and be more intentional about taking photos of the children. I hate the thought of them growing up so quickly, and I really want to make our everyday memories last. Isaac is our baby. His name means laughter and he lives up to that everyday!!

I just made this 12x12 page using My Digital Studio. I am finding it very easy to use and am getting 100% more scrapbooking done than I was without it. I think this page took me about 35 minutes to complete, start to finish. Much of that time was figuring out what I wanted to say in the journaling - that's always my hardest part.

MDS birthday layout

My DD turned 10 last week, and my MIL and I took her on a surprise trip to the American Girl store in Chicago. It was a great trip, and she was super surprised and excited. I took these photos while at our hotel in downtown Chicago.
This page was very easy to create. I used a page template that was included with MDS. I used a black cardstock background, filled in the photos, and added the journaling. Easy peasy!! I really like the way this simple, yet stunning, page turned out. And I can't believe that my little girl in 10.

Coloring Pretties Tutorial

Here's a quick tutorial on coloring flowers from your Pretties Kit with a marker and Stampin' Mist.

Begin by outlining your flower in a Stampin' Write Marker of your choice, I've chosen Dusty Durango here.

Put the flower on a paper towel and spray the Stampin' Mist generously on the flower.

You will see the color begin to pull from the edges of the flower. I love to watch "magic" at work. This may take some time, so be patient.

This will be your end result. If the color doesn't make it all the way to the middle of the flower, go ahead and use a little more marker and mist to get it there. Now you can have pretty flowers in any color you want!!

Pull Treat Tutorial

I had to make a few treats for DH to give to some people at work (Well, actually, almost 20 of them. I guess that's more than a few.) I decided on these super cute, and EASY, pull treats. Here's a quick little how-to on them. These would be perfect for any holiday. I've shown a Fall one and a Halloween one here.

Because I wanted to make several of these, I started with my paper a little on the small side. By cutting the DSP at 6x6, I was able to get from one sheet. Score that 6x6 paper at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2".
Add Sticky Strip to the botton and the 1/2" strip, as shown. Note: You can use Tombow Multi for these, and it will hold just fine. I needed the red liner of the Sticky Strip to show up for the photos. Fold the wrapper and adhere together.
Punch a 1/2" circle from the top. Thread a 20" piece of ribbon through both holes, making cut edges even. Note: The size circle you need to punch will vary depending on the width of ribbon you use. If the hole is too small, the ribbon will not pull easily.
Stick the candy in between the ribbons and into the pouch. Push the candy and ribbon down to the bottom of the wrapper. Note: I've used a full-size pack of M&Ms here and just folded the edges a little to make it fit.
Tie the ribbon together at the top and trim ends. You can now pull the ribbon, and the candy will pull up. Note: There's no need to untie the ribbon for the candy to pull out.
The belly band I added is 6-1/2" x 2-1/2" and scored 2-3/4" and 5-3/4". You adhere the pieces together on the back and slip onto the wrapper. Note: I layered my belly band pieces together before scoring them to ensure the scores for both layers were in the exact same spot.

Ok, so here is my last MDS project from our pumpkin picking trip. DH had to work the day that I took the kids to get pumpkins. As we were about to leave, DD's two friends showed up at the door to see if she could play. Long story short, they went with us to pick pumpkins an have dinner. We all had a blast!!
This page took a little longer to get "just right" than the other two. Something was just off or missing several times in the process. I do think the end result turned out nice, though.

Here is another page I just made using Stampin' Up!'s new paper-crafting solution, My Digital Studio. You can order this software directly from my online store button on the left side.
I used one Sunny Day template and just chose one of the pages in that album to use. I did change some of the colors and images just a little. From start to finish this page took me about 30 minutes to complete. I think that's great, considering I don't do a ton of scrapbooking. The other cool feature I'd like to note is that you can crop and edit photos right there in My Digital Studio. So, there's no need for other photo editing software. I love that it can all be done in one program.

Pumpkin Picking

I've been trying to learn all about Stampin' Up!'s new My Digital Studio. I took the kids to go pick pumpkins yesterday, and here is my very first digital scrapbook page.
I have to admit that I wasn't all that excited about this software at first. But after getting it in my hands and seeing how very easy it is to use, I think I'm hooked. I can see how much more likely I'll be to scrapbook now. As a matter of fact, I was in bed with my laptop last night watching Desperate Housewives while making this page. I even used one of the templates already in My Digital Studio and changed it a little to make my page.

More Tag Ideas

Ok, so if you are still on the fence about getting this die, here is another idea. I made about 100 of these tags to be used a check or money holders. As you can see, the two tags on the Two Tags Bigz Die have more uses than just being tags. It really is a wonderful investment!!
My husband was handing out bonus checks to his employees and wanted to deliver them in a special way. I used retired Simply Scrappin' Kits to make these in no time flat. It probably took me about 2 1/2 hours start-to-finish to make 100 of these holders, decorate them, add the ribbon, and fold and insert the checks.
The Simply Scrappin' Kits made it SUPER simple to do because I used the self-adhesive die cuts to do all the decorating. We have some wonderful kits in the catalog now. Be on the lookout for an upcoming class using Simply Scrappin' Kits. Have a great day!!

Stampin' Up! Two Tags Bookmark

One of our Make-n-Takes at Convention was a set of tags using the Stampin' Up! Two Tags Bigz Die for the Big Shot. I knew that I had to have that die after seeing how easily tags can be made. Then, I saw that you could actually make one of the tags into a bookmark and NEEDED that die even more.
Here is a tag I made yesterday to give out this fall. The Scallop Circle is popped up on dimensionals, and that's what makes it usable as a bookmark. The acorn is also popped up and the top is paper pieced. I punched 1/16" circles from the Scallop Circle for a little extra something.
The sentiment didn't fit on the tag, so I used markers to color in different parts and the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line them up perfectly.

5 minute card

Here is a super simple, super quick card. These are my DD's school colors, and I was trying to make a few Thank You cards to have on hand for school things. I used Fall-to Layout 59 as my card sketch.
I stamped the main image in Versamark. Then, I rubbed a cotton ball in my Stampin' Pastels in Summer Sun and Old Olive. I gently rubbed that over my image and cut around the outline. I ran a piece of Summer Sun card stock through the Big Shot with the Small Dots Texturz plate. Top that with a piece of Old Olive 1-1/4" Striped grosgrain ribbon. Tie a piece of Vanilla Taffeta ribbon around the center and pull it vertically. Stamp your sentiment. Done. Just like that. Done.

Card for the Races

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but my DH is a store manager with Home Depot. The NASCAR races are in Richmond this weekend, and that's not too far from where we live. DH was able to us get tickets to the suite, the Pit tour, and we get to meet Joey Logano (the Home Depot car driver). I had this idea in my head of a card to make to say good luck to Joey. What do you think?
The main image panel was done using the cracked glass technique. I've done it once before and the results are quite stunning IRL.

What's cracked glass you say?
Well, you start off by stamping your image the way you want it. In this case I used the Extreme Elements stamp set and stamped the main image in Pumpkin Pie. I inked the smaller images in Only Orange and stamped them off once before stamping on my image panel.
The next step is to cover the entire surface with Versamark.
Next, you dip that in Glassy Glaze Enamel embossing powder and heat step. Here's the next tip: before that dries, stick it in the Glassy Glaze again and heat set again. Repeat that step 4-5 times or more until you get your desired thickness.
Go stick that in the freezer for a few minutes while you take a few bites of the ice cream that must be sitting in said freezer. It will curl up when it gets good and cold.
Now, going against your better judgment, just flatten the cardstock and it will begin to crack. You can crack it as much or as little as you please.
At this point, I sponge over the top to get some color into those cracks and wipe off the excess with a paper towel.
There ya go, cracked glass. Easy enough, right??!!

Oh, I'm not a NASCAR fan, but I figured I had to go at least once if given the chance. And, hey, the tickets were free and they're gonna feed me.

MOJO103 Vellum Flowers

Ok, I'm not totally thrilled with this card. BUT, there are a few things that I really wanted to share about this card today. I made this card for the MOJO103 sketch challenge. I have also had a piece of Vellum paper sitting on my table for several days waiting for inspiration to hit. Well, I saw this card by CraftyGirl and inspiration started to strike. I think her card is so very pretty and has all the right touches. Mine, well, I was just trying too many things.
I stamped the flowers from Fifth Avenue Floral with Versamark on Vellum paper. The next step was to emboss them with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. The punch of yellow comes from using pastels on the back side of the Vellum. I then cut out each flower - which I find fairly easy to do on Vellum. Because of the yellow pastel on the back, I was able to attach the flowers using glue dots without the glue dots being seen. Yeah!!
I participated in a webinar the other night where Pam Morgan, a woman on staff at the SU home office, stated that our new Frosty White Shimmer Paint is comparable to Liquid Pearls. I have to admit that I thought she was a little off in saying that. I mean, Liquid Pearls comes in a small container where you put little drops and the Shimmer Paint is used to stamp with or sponge over things. After pondering what Pam said for a while, I decided to see if our Frosty White Shimmer Paint would do the same way as Liquid Pearls. Let me tell you, people, that it does wonderfully!! Actually, I think it is even better because it dries pretty flat unless you put a huge dot on. The simple way I did it was to just stick a toothpick into the bottle of Shimmer Paint and dot it on my paper where I want it. Viola!!! I hope you'll take some time to try our new Shimmer Paint. Here is another project for my workshop last week. This was our Make-n-Take project. I actually CASE'd it from this lovely card.
This card is super simple to put together, showcases some great products, and has a nice punch of color with the More Mustard layer.
Here's a quick tip for you: If you can't get your ribbon to lay just right, don't hesitate to put a glue dot underneath to hold it in place. Glue dots are the bestest way to stick down ribbon!!

Here is a scrapbook page I made for a workshop last week. It was made as a progressive page. The Kraft layer is 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 and can be used in our 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 On Board Album. Or you can step it up just a little to become a 12 x 12 page. Underneath the photo is blank because I haven't done the journaling yet. This page was inspired by one done by my Convention roomie, Michelle, that you can see here.

Crayon Pouch Instructions

As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, we have access to lots of places for business and creative inspiration. Stampin' Up! puts out a monthly magazine called Stampin' Success for their demonstrators. It is chalk full of business tools and stamping ideas. If you have any questions about becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and joining my team, please feel free to email me using the button on the left.
Here is a project from our August issue of Stampin' Success. It is a super cute and mega easy project. The card base is 4x12 - which means you can get 3 of these from one sheet of 12x12 cardstock. That card base is scored at 5", 10", 10 1/4", and 11 1/2".
The rest of the card is pretty simple to put together. I used the new Build A Bear stamp set call Beary Best Friends because it looks great as a card for kids. I stamped that using my Stamp A Ma Jig and Stazon Black ink. There is a strip of Pawsitively Prints DSP on the bottom and a strips of Ballet Blue across the top with the Scallop Edge punch.
You really should give this card a try. It really is very easy, and the things to insert on the inside are quite endless: tea bag, crayons, gum, small bags of candy...

SCS Dinner Swap

I don't think I ever showed you this card that I made for the SCS dinner swap while I was at Convention. I was a fairly simple card to mass produce, as I had to make 50 of them. Here are the two different color schemes I used - as usual, this was last minute and I didn't have enough of the first color scheme. My fav is definitely the Soft Suede with Turquoise grosgrain. The large medallion is popped up with a dimensional.

MOJO102 Snowflake

Sorry I've been gone so long. I had a busy week, plus I didn't feel any creative spark. I'm back and ready to go again.
I made this card for this week's Mojo sketch.
I tried a few new techniques on this card that I'll tell you about.
A super simple step I've read about recently on a few blogs is to add several layers when you punch a certain shape to give it more dimension. Let me tell you, it works like a charm. The small snowflake is on top of four 1/2" circles. Give it a try sometime.
Another technique I used involved the use of our new Shimmer Paint in Frosty White. I stamped the two snowflake images with our Classic Ink. I used the Stamp A Ma Jig to stamp over them with Shimmer Paint. I just inked up my stamp with a sponge dipped in the lid of the Shimmer Paint. It's hard to tell from the photo, but it just gives the images a little bit of shimmer.
The last technique I used has to do with the distressing on this card. I use distressing a lot on my projects because I feel it gives them just that little extra "umph".
There are several ways to do distressing. You can run your inkpad directly on your paper - "direct-to-paper", or you can use a sponge or sponge dauber to dip in your inkpad and run across your paper, or you can use our distressing tool that is a part of our cutter kit.
I am getting ready to use one of our On Board Albums. While reading the front instructions, it gave me another way to do distressing. You go over your paper with the inkpad or with a sponge then go over that ink with a cotton ball dipped in Gray Pastels. The ink and paper absorb some of the gray, and it just gives it a duller distressed effect. I really liked the results. It seems a little less harsh than other times.

Going with the flow

So, this card began as a CASE for this card. I needed a very nice, but quick card for some customers. When I saw this week's Mojo sketch, I thought I might be able to change my card a little to fit the sketch. Well, needless to say, that didn't work out.
Here are two quick tips for you.
Tip # 1: If your red rubber ever happens to come apart from your stamp, just apply a little Crystal Effects and let it set up. Your stamp will be just like new. I'm telling you that today because that actually happened to me while making this card. It was meant to have a slightly different sentiment on it, but that stamp had to dry after beginning to come apart.
Tip # 2: I use mini glue dots on my ribbon to adhere them. I think it's a much easier way than any kind of glue, and they stay put better than SNAIL. Don't be afraid to use a bunch of them if necessary to make your card look better!!

So, I didn't end up posting yesterday because I was busy in the kitchen. I made the absolute best loaf of White Sandwich Bread ever. We were having BLAT (Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado, Tomato) sandwiches, so I decided to kick it up a notch and make the bread. I got the recipe from here. If you like homemade bread, you should definitely try this one. She also has a quick tutorial on how to shape the loaf for the pan here. I made a few changes to the recipe to fit what I had on hand. I used half milk/half water. I also mixed my heated liquids with the yeast and sugar for about 5 minutes then added the rest. My husband generally likes my cooking, but he was absolutely blown away by this meal!! We added a fruit salad to go with it.
I'll be back tomorrow, hopefully with a real card for the Mojo sketch for this week.

Mojo100 Day 7

Ok, I admit that I thought the week of Mojo sketches was only 5 days, so I missed yesterday. 6 out of 7 ain't so bad tho, right??
This sketch was done by Mary Fish - who I actually had the pleasure of hanging out with during convention - for the 100th Mojo sketch week celebration.
I started with 1 1/4" squares of the Pink Flamingo DSP. I decided to go with a Real Red card base and a Cameo Coral layer over that. The hive is stamped with Stazon and colored using an aquapainter and Watercolor crayons. I embossed the greeting with black embossing powder over the top of the hive. To finish the details, I used the ticket corner punch on the Summer Sun layer and added three black brads to the bottom.
I took a photo of the inside because I actually finished the inside of the card this time, which is something I don't always take the time to do. The greeting is also embossed on the inside.
I hope you've enjoyed this week of Mojo sketches as much as I have. I feel it really kept me on my toes all week long. I'll be back tomorrow with another Mojo sketch. Thanks for looking!!

Mojo100 Day 5

Wow! I can't believe I actually made it to the Mojo sketch everyday this week. Truth be told, it was only possible because the boys had a good week (and watched a little more tv than normal).
I haven't done many sketches that involve circles because they kinda scare me. I don't have the Circle Scissors, so I just used the Coluzzle for mine (4th from the middle for the larger one and 3rd from the middle for the smaller one).
Again, I am making do with what I have because I don't have any good Halloween stamp sets. So, I thought I could just make a cool background with Extreme Elements. The greeting is stamped in various darknesses over the stamped off background.
I ran the Basic Black layer through the Big Shot with the Small Dots Texturz plate. All layers are inked around the edges with Old Olive and a sponge dauber. Can I just say that I love, love, love our sponge daubers!!
This new 5/8" Basic Black grosgrain ribbon is absolutely yummy, too. I made a no-tie bow. You can see a video I did on how to do it here.
It's finally Friday, and I'm on my way out to Costco - hold on to my wallet.

Here is my submission for Day 4 of this week's Mojo 100 celebration.
We received this Sweet Season stamp set at Convention; and besides finishing my make-n-takes, I haven't used it yet. I am also very low on current DSP, so I tried to make do with what I have. I really like these colors together for Christmas.
There is a little heart stamped inside the Jumbo Grommet. The snowflake has some Dazzling Diamonds added. The scallop circle is popped up, along with the Jumbo Grommet. I am really digging this Striped Old Olive grosgrain ribbon (Thanks, Michelle!!). Have a great day; I'm off to do some laundry.

Mojo100 Day 3

I needed a birthday card for a little boy turning two. So, I turned to a darling stamp set that will be available Sept. 1 called Beary Best Friends. It is a part of Stampin' Up!'s partnership with Build A Bear Workshop. This set is perfect for simple watercoloring.
I used today's Mojo sketch for this card; this is a great sketch!! I don't normally do square cards, but I really like them when I do. This card happens to be 4.25" square, so it will fit in a normal envelope.
The DSP is also one that will be available on Sept. 1 and is called Pawsitively Prints. It is designed to look like clothing that could go on a Build A Bear to use with the Sizzix dies. Super cute!!
I stamped all images in Chocolate Chip craft ink and used a bit of masking with the party hat and bag. The main image panel is popped up with half a Modern Label punch peeking out with the greeting.

I needed an anniversary card for a friend, and today's MOJOMARIA sketch looked like a great one to try.
I tried a new technique on this card. For the two background layers, I brayered Pumpkin Pie ink onto the Flourishes Texturz Plate. I ran that through the Big Shot with a piece of So Saffron cardstock. I really like this technique; it looks wonderful in person. I stamped the hearts, cut them out, and covered them with Crystal Effects to give them a lacquered finish. I encourage you to take some time and try this technique.

Mojo Monday is hosting a sketch challenge everyday this week in honor of their 100th challenge. I hope to play everyday (we'll see how that goes). So, here is my submission for today's sketch.
I have a Whisper White card base. My next layer is Basic Black that went through the Big Shot with the Finial Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I also added some Frost White Shimmer Paint (available on Sept. 1) over the whole piece of cardstock. My main image is the Medallion Background stamp inked with Melon Mambo and the center cut out. I also added Frost White Shimmer Paint to that piece with a rhinestone brad in the center. The "Thanks" is an Embosslit done with Basic Black cardstock and more shimmer paint. It is layered over the Scallop Ovals in Basic Black and Whisper White that I've overlapped a little. The card is finished with 5/8" Black grosgrain ribbon and dimensionals on the thanks and circle images.
The end result is a shimmery, elegant look. Have a great Monday!!

PPA Challenge 3

Some new friends I met at Convention have a new challenge website (Pals Paper Arts) up, and I thought I'd give it a try this week. This was an inspiration challenge, and the picture was from a Pottery Barn Kids catalog. I drew from the three "houses" on the back wall. This card will be tucked inside my DD's backpack on the first day of school.
I am really loving the Extreme Elements stamp set I just got. It is very easy to work with, and you can make many different looks with it. I thought that I would use this as my background because it looked artsy, and that's what the Inspiration room was all about. Each of the images is stamped off once before stamping them on the cardstock so they don't seem so pronounced on the background.
My "Get the Scoop" event yesterday went very well. The ladies that came had a nice time, and we have a few workshops booked!! I am looking forward to getting to know them all better and sharing my knowledge and love of paper crafts with them.

Build A Bear Magnet Tin

As promised, here is my super cute Build A Bear magnet tin. I have to admit that I wasn't even considering buying the BAB stuff until I saw it demo'd at convention. It is so stinkin' cute that I just couldn't resist, though.
The bear images on the cover of the tin are from the stamp set "Beary Best Friends". All other pieces are Sizzix dies.
I bought a bunch of these little tins while at convention thinking I would have a class and make pull-out scrapbooks. Well, as with all creative challenges, things change.

I have a Xyron 500 with a cartridge that is a magnet on one side and laminate on the other. I thought that would be the perfect choice to make this cute little bear with clothes to stick on him/her. Nope, the clothes would only stick onto the wrong side of the bear. So, I looked around my craft room to see what else might work for these things. Low and behold, there sat the little tins. The magnet isn't strong enough to go through anything more than one sheet of cardstock. So, the bear is cut out and glued right onto the tin.
I cut the darling little clothes out of the Pawsitively Prints DSP. I really can't believe how cute this turned out (it looks much better IRL). Teal Thanks

Here is a super quick card that I popped out last night. I have a few new goodies that I wanted to try real quick. This card took no more than 5 minutes from start to finish!!
I stamped the Medallion stamp in Versamark on Taken with Teal cardstock. I sent a piece of Vanilla cardstock through the Big Shot with the Thanks Embosslit (it embosses and cuts out at the same time). I covered that whole piece with the new Silver Shimmer paint. Last step is to stick that piece on the main image. Voila, elegant and quick card.
I know that I could have just cut the Thanks out with Silver paper, but I didn't have any. It doesn't take much paint. I used what was left in the lid after I shook it and added it on the paper with a sponge.
I've got more new stuff for you tomorrow. Wait til you see what I did with the Build A Bear die cuts and some magnet sheets!!

Book to Look Board

Here is a "Book to Look" board I made. It is CASED from one I saw on the Display Boards at Convention. I had some leftover and retired papers, so I decided to use them.
The clipboard is covered with Pacific Point Textured CS. I just used Tombow Mono Multi to adhere the paper.
I covered the tops of three 3x3 mini envelopes with CS. I also covered the flap of the envie with DSP; then, adhered that to the front of the envelope.
I have an old Sizzlit alphabet called "Girls Are Weird" that I used to cut the letters.
I cut 3x3 CS and added a DSP Round Tab punch to the tops.
The cards have free items like ink pads, asst cardstock, sponges, etc. written on them. The idea is that someone books a workshop, then gets to look at a card and receive that item at her workshop.
I had made this cute little owl a while ago and was waiting for the perfect opportunity to use him. I smooshed the chipboard owl into Close to Cocoa craft ink and dipped it in Dazzling Diamonds. The eyes are done in Ballet Blue and the beak is Pumpkin Pie.
I'm hoping to book several workshops at my event on Saturday using this tool. Have a great day!!

Rockin' Guitar Friend

Here is another tone-on-tone card that I tried using the same layout as a few days ago. This is a new stamp set that my 9 yo DD really liked, and I thought I could make cards for she and her friends with it.
I stamped the images on Glossy cardstock with Stazon ink. Then, I colored in small parts with a YoYo Yellow marker and kind of smeared the ink a little on purpose. I went over the whole panel with a Versamark pad, covered with Iridescent Ice embossing powder, and heat set.
I stamped "Hey Friend" sideways and colored in the words with YoYo Yellow to look a little like a highlighter. I added brads to frame the image panel.

Tone on Tone

I have been wanting to try a tone-on-tone card for a little while. I was inspired by this card. I used Sahara Sand cardstock because I have a lot of it from a project I did a while back. I have to say it's not my favorite for this card, though.
The stamping is done in Summer Sun ink, which is a great contrast to the lightness of the tone-on-tone. There is a 1/2" border for the two layers under the image panel. The first panel is scored 1/4" from the edge to make a frame. And the second layer went through the Big Shot Texturz plate.

So on my daily trek to find the work of others to inspire me, I came across this blog. Now if you are in to the Clean and Simple style, and even if you aren't, you should definitely check her out!! She does a sketch every week and some other things. I really am trying to utilize more of the Clean and Simple principles in my stamping these days. So, today's card is from a sketch a few weeks ago, FTL50.
I am also trying to use up some of my retired accessories to make room for new stuff. I'm so excited to see what we will get to see at Convention next week!! SC238 Cupcakes

I made this card to go with the Splitcoaststampers SC238. It was inspired by a card seen here by inglishrea. I made the background paper by using a sponge dauber dipped in Rich Razzleberry ink and dotted on Whisper White cardstock. The inspiration card used a Fiskars punch to make a wide scallop. Three of the Stampin' Up! Large Scallop punches lined up have the same effect.
I colored the cupcakes by using my inkpad and an aqua painter. I stamped a greeting from the stamp set Upsy Daisy and finished the card by adding a button tied with linen thread. Thanks for looking, and have a great Monday!!

Spooky Happy Pumpkins

My new goodies that came yesterday included a few Halloween items. I was excited to get started, and here's what I came up with. The layout was inspired by a card I saw here by CraftyGirl. Her card is absolutely gorgeous!! Her work is very inspiring; go check it out.

I started by stamping the panel of pumpkins (which were probably too happy for this card, but it was all I had) and coloring them with Watercolor Crayons and an Aqua Painter. I matted that panel with Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie. I then made a little larger mat with Perfect Plum. The card base is Textured Basic Black with panel of Cast-A-Spell DSP, Old Olive, and Pumpkin Pie. The bottom edge of the Pumpkin Pie layer is torn, and I rolled the Web wheel across it (I didn't get a perfect image with the wheel, but it looked good so I left it). The Old Olive layer is distress with my trusty Cutter Kit. The edges of all layers are run across the ink pad first and then distressed with an Sponge Dauber. I finished the card off by adding a sentiment stamped on Perfect Plum and punched with the Modern Label Punch and added two black brads. The ending result is a very nicely spooky card. Well, I am finally back home after a LONG drive today. It should've taken 4 1/2 hours, but it took us considerably longer because I had tired and fussy little ones.
There was a layout on pg. 107 of the Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog that I had wanted to try. I also wanted to try another CAS Black & White card. So here's what I came up with. The sentiment and penguin are stamped in Versamark and embossed in black. The label and penguin are popped up. I used my mat pack to do the paper piercing around the whole card. You can't tell in the photo, but the cardstock is textured.

A quick monogram card trial

Ok, so here's an attempt at a quick Monogram card. I'm not totally thrilled with how it turned out, but I have some ideas to make it better. The layout idea came from this post on Inking Idaho.

I made a regular card base and cut 1" from the top layer. I rounded the corners on the bottom. I cut a piece of Rainbow Sherbet DSP to fit the top layer and cut one more 1/2" strip for the bottom. The "e" is popped up on the top layer.

So, I've been on the lookout for the perfect easy box to use for card sets that I'm selling. I think this may be it. I like that there is no top that may fall off. The template and directions came from here on Stampin' Gal Val. She has a lot of great stuff on her blog.
The only thing I did differently on my box was to use a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock. I made one box using her dimensions and thought it was just a tad too big. The regular size cardstock works perfectly!!

Small Picnic Basket

Ok, here is the small picnic basket, as promised. It really is a cute little thing. I guess I should tell you how big these baskets are. Let's see....getting ruler.....
The small one is about 3 1/2" high, and the large one is about 5 1/2" high.
Please see yesterday's post for info on where you can purchase the template for these.
For the lid, I scored down the middle and cut a triangle out of the sides to make it look like a hinged lid. It took me 30 min. from picking out paper to being completely done - not too bad in my book.

Picnic Basket

I love, love, love making 3-d objects. I was looking for a new project to do when I came across this picnic basket template. It is from Lauren Meader's Timeless Templates and can be purchased for $5 from PTI. This template was pretty easy to put together once I had it printed out. There is also a smaller version that I'll show you tomorrow. I think I'm going to make some salsa in a jar and put that inside as a gift for a BBQ we are attending in a few days.
I cut 4 sets of flowers from the Daisies die and adhered the two smaller sizes together. I also sponged Close to Cocoa ink on the edges of the basket and flowers to give it more depth.

Another CAS Thanks

Here are 3 more samples of CAS (clean and simple) cards I was trying out for my MIL. I think the top one is my favorite of all the cards so far. I go the layout idea from SCS, although I don't remember exactly where.
First, I'll tell you the differences in the cards, then I'll give you more specifics on how I did them. The top card was done on Sahara Sand CS and has a double frame. The second card was done on Kraft CS, has only one frame, the images are stamped with White Craft ink, the frame was made with a white gel pen, and only the hearts are colored. The last card was also done on Kraft CS and has only one frame.

Ok, so these cards took a little prep work to set up, then they were easy peasy to complete. I measured the size of the main image and cut a rectangle of CS a little larger - this will be my template I trace to make the frames. I utilized my Stampin' Up grid paper in a major way for these cards. I used the side of the paper that has 0 in the middle to make sure everything was even on either side. I made the frame first and then used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to center the image inside the frame. I measured the size of the sentiment and left that space open at the bottom. I used the Black Stampin' Write Journaler for the black frames and used the larger tip for the outside frame.

Here is another card using new stamps. I stamped one row of cupcakes on Whisper White with Stazon Black ink. I was able to punch out the two end cupcakes and one more using the large Oval punch. I matted those with a Pumpkin Pie Scallop Oval. The So Saffron layer actually went through the Big Shot with the the dots Background I Texturz plate, although you can't see that in the photo. The paper is retired Washington Apple DSP. I used Watercolor Crayons and an Aqua painter to color the cupcakes and put a bit of Liquid Applique on them to give them depth.

Mojo 94 Thanks

I had two inspirations for this card. First, I followed this week's Mojo 94 card sketch. Second, the color inspiration came from this card by CraftyGirl. Her card is actually an entry for PaperCrafts Gallery Idol, so you should go vote for her!! She has some lovely Black & White cards on her blog, and they always give me so much inspiration that I decided to give one a try.
I wanted this card to have a very modern and elegant feel. So, I inked just the frame image from the SAB set Yummy. I then used my brand new Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (101049) to line up the sentiment from Sincere Salutations (115068) inside the frame. The paper is from the newly retired DSP called Rockability. I'm so sad to see it gone. I took Crafty Girl's idea and went with the Valet Ribbon Originals because the texture of that ribbon was what I needed. The flower on the circle is from Eastern Blooms (111626) and is heat embossed in black. To finish up the card I used the Ticket Corner punch (107214) on the corners of the image panel and added black brads. The sentiment and flower panels are both raised with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430). The resulting card has lots of gloss, texture, and dimension.

I began this card using Mojo sketch 93, but I didn't end up following it exactly. I got the Upsy Daisy set as one of my free sets from Sell-A-Bration.
I used water color paper and stamped the image using Versamark. Then, I went over the whole panel using a cotton ball and pastels. I wanted to try out some of the new In-Colors and have a nice pop of color in the background, so I chose Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry. It needed a little something extra, so I did some paper piercing in the corners and added a no-tie bow to the middle.
It feels so good to be back in my craft room after almost a month. I truly apologize to my blog roll buddies for not being here. I can't say it won't happen again, but I'm really going to try harder to plan better. Have a great Monday!!!

Espresso Birthday

This is a card I made for my FIL's upcoming birthday. I have been wanting to try the stair step card, and this was the perfect opportunity.
To make the stair step, you start with a 10 1/2 x 5 piece of cardstock. Then, score it at 1 1/4", 2 1/2", 4 1/4", 6", and 8 1/4". Fold the card with mountains and valleys, making sure the small flap is pointed down. Last, decorate as you wish.
It did take me a while to get all the elements on this card just the right way, but I really like the end result. (Until DH told me his dad doesn't put marshmallows in his coffee.) Oh well!

The mug is inked with Versamark and Chocolate Chip, then embossed with Iridescent Ice (because that's the only clear embossing powder I have). The steam is also embossed on the mug. The edges of everything are sponged with Chocolate Chip.

Inside Pocket Idea

This is a card my mom sent for my DS's 2nd birthday a few weeks ago. I keep meaning to post it because it is super cute! I got my mom into stamping a few years ago, and she actually became my downline in Feb - yea, Mom!
The part I love about this card was the pocket on the inside. It matches the triangle on the front and held a little birthday money for the birthday boy. She didn't have the stamp she wanted for the front, so she drew the truck by hand. Great card, Mom!!

Mojo 89 Bird

Ok, here is my second try at the Mojo 89 sketch. I think this one turned out very nicely, or maybe it's just the margarita I'm having right now.

It did take some time for me to get this card just right, and it almost didn't make the sketch again. I keep trying new things, and they just aren't fitting with the sketch I'm working with. I guess that's not a terrible problem to have.
The branch is inked with Gable Green (classic ink) and a sponge dauber. The legs are inked with Close to Cocoa (craft ink). The body is covered with DSP, and the beak with Apricot Appeal cardstock.
To make my line going across, I put down the branch and marked along the bottom edge onto the Apricot Appeal layer. I then cut a little larger than the pencil line so the paper would go under the branch and a line wouldn't be visible.
The greeting is inked in Close to Cocoa craft and embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.
The square layer is put behind the Apricot layer so that the bottom doesn't peek out.
This card is 5 1/2" square.

Sunny Daisy

I began this card as an attempt to this week's Mojo sketch. I wanted to incorporate a few different things into my card, and, in the end, it didn't totally fulfill the sketch. I'll have to give it another try later. This is a 5 1/2" square card. I saw this card over at CraftyGirl and loved the ruffle she used. After using my new Daisies #2 die, I thought the negative image was just begging to be used. So I sponged the inside of the image with So Saffron, then Pumpkin Pie, then Riding Hood Red - all using sponge daubers. The end result looks very much like a sun peeking through a kitchen window curtain don't ya think?

Here is another card I made for a quick, easy teacher gift set. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the card base went through the Big Shot with the Small Dots Texturz plate.

I really wish I knew a better way to take photos of cards with embossing on them. This card looks so much better IRL. This card was also made using scraps, which was a challenge set out by Ronda, one of my blog roll buddies. This Daisies #2 die is new for me, and I am totally loving how easy it is to use. I just use a little glue pen to attach the pieces together. Oh, the flower is popped up to allow room for the back of the brad. Enjoy!!

Flip Top Box Tutorial

Supplies:

2 - 8" x 8 1/2" pieces cardstock
1 - 4 1/2" x 6 piece cardstock
2 - 4 1/4" x 5 3/4" pieces DSP
2 - 1 3/4" x 5 3/4" pieces DSP
2 - 4 1/4" x 1 3/4" pieces DSP
adhesive (I used Tombow Multi)
2 Jumbo Grommets
Crop-A-Dile
Ribbon

Score at 2" and 6 1/2".

Turn cardstock and score at 2".

On the 4 1/2" x 6" piece, score at 2" and 4". This piece is the lid of the box and will be adhered to the back of one of the box pieces.

Adhere the lid piece. The two box pieces fit together as shown. Glue one piece on the bottom and sides. Then, slide that into the other box.
FYI: I should have glued mine the opposite way, so the piece with the lid goes on the inside.

Add the DSP pieces, grommets, and ribbon. Decorate box. I used Velcro as a closure for the lid.

Also note my use of the Scor-Pal. I absolutely LOVE this tool. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I adore Stampin' Up products. This is probably the one non-SU product I use very frequently, as in with every card I make. It really does make scoring sooooo much easier. If you don't have one, I really suggest you at least look at their website.

I made a set of monogram cards to give to my DD's teachers. This card totally looks better IRL. The base was run through the Big Shot with the small dots Texturz plate.

The DSP is 3" high on the card. I cut the ribbon in half (it doesn't lay just right if I just fold it in half) and used glue dots to adhere each one to the back of the scallop circle. Flamingo Wishes

I really wanted to showcase the beautiful design on this Pink Flamingo DSP. I orderd my first pack last week after not loving the look of it in the catalog but seeing so many cute things done with it. After having it in my hands, I can truly say that I like it a lot. This card was super quick to put together, but because of the design of the DSP it looks very nice. I only wanted a certain part of the DSP to show on the card. And let me tell you, it was very difficult for me to cut it just for a certain portion of it. I usually cut my DSP in normal sizes (3" or 4" strips). This was the first time I purposefully cut it to get one part. Ahh the joy of letting go...

These cards seem to be very popular on SCS right now, so I thought I'd give it a try. It is actually a very simple card to make. The tutorial is from The Craftiblog. I'll give the quick and dirty of it, though. It starts with a 5 1/2" x 12" piece of cardstock. Score that at 2", 4", 8", and 10". Turn and cut at 1 1/2" from the 2" score line to the 10" score line. Fold like you see the picture. It folds to fit in a standard A2 size envelope.
I embossed the flower 5 times with black embossing powder. I then cut out the different layers and added Kiwi ink to the edges and pulled that color into the petals a little. Then, I glued all the layers together and popped the whole thing up on the front. Have a great Wednesday!!

I really don't know where time has gone since I last posted. I reallly am trying to post frequently; life just keeps happening.
Ok, I made this card quickly yesterday to give to someone. I meets the May '09 WICKED color combo AND sketch challenges over on the demonstrator side of SCS.

The DSP triangles are are 2 3/4" squares cut in half. The Baja triangle is 3 1/4" square cut in half and then run through the crimper. The scallop oval and the main panel under it are both popped up. The photo isn't all that great, sorry. I also did paper piercing around two of the corners on the main panel and around the scallop oval. I stamped the image on Riding Hood Red with So Saffron ink and punched that out with the scallop oval punch. I stamped it again on So Saffron with Riding Hood Red ink and punched that out with the large oval punch.
I took the children to visit my in-laws at the beach on Thurs. afternoon. Before that I had gotten ALL of the laundry in the house done (it's all waiting for me again). We ran into terrible traffic on the way down; it took a little over an hour to go 12 miles. Oh, the a/c in the van was supposed to be fixed that morning, but what they thought was wrong with it wasn't, and the part they need is on backorder. And, while DH and I were at Wal-Mart waiting for my van to be fixed the youngest DS had DH's car keys and lost them in a shopping cart at Wal-Mart. So, we had to wait there until someone found them and returned them because of course DH didn't have another set. Luckily, God showed mercy on us that day. The kids and I did end up having a great time at the beach. The weather was perfect and we spent a little time out on the boat on Sat. Now, youngest DS birthday is next weekend, and I'm trying to get things ready for a birthday party and weekend visitors -- all the while dealing with the fact that my last baby is turning 2. And my 9th anniversary is tomorrow. Uhhhh, it makes me tired just thinking about all the stuff going on.
Well, I'm really hoping to be more regular with posting for now. I am trying to get some things made ahead of time to post, but I just love sharing my things as soon as they are finished. If you've made it this far in the post, thanks for listening. I feel better now.

Good Morning Stationery

I CASED this stationery from Kendra to give to a friend for her birthday. I will show you the box I made tomorrow. Sorry for the late post today; laundry was calling my name today. These went together very quickly. I had all 8 done from start to finish in about 40 minutes.

ETA: The strips of DSP are 1/2" wide. These are just postcards. So, the base is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. I did mess up just a bit. I cut all the Whisper White to 5 1/4 x 4 before using the Scallop edge punch, so that piece is off a little. I would suggest cutting the Whisper White to the correct size in one direction, using the Scallop edge punch the other direction, then cutting that part to the correct size. Clear as mud??

You Mean Everything

This was the gift I sent my MIL for Mother's Day. The bag was inspired by one made in last month's Fan Club on SCS. It was very simple to make. The fabric is Amy Butler and totally my MIL's style. The card was inspired by the fabric. Although, I have to say I had a very hard time matching these colors. So, the card ended up a little darker than the fabric. The card is a CASE of a card I saw by Tessa over at Crafty Girl Designs.

We have friends that lived a few town houses up from us. They recently bought a house one street over. I made this card to give them along with a housewarming gift.

I cut out a mask of the chair, but I didn't cut close to the image so it would have some "space" when I sponged around it. After cutting out the circle, I applied the mask and lightly sponged around the image. I went back and sponged darker around the edges.
I cut out the scallop circle from the Kiwi DSP and ran it through with the Texturz Plate. Then, I went over it with the sanding block to make the white show through. I noticed that I really need a new sanding block, too.
It's a simple card, but sometimes simple is so very nice. Enjoy.

Unscripted Time

This is a card I made for Unscripted Sketches 05. I think it turned out really cute, despite my DH saying he wasn't crazy about the colors--the nerve of him.

I think I've mentioned before that I don't have ink for all of the In Colors. Baja Breeze is one of those, but Sage Shadow is a great match in the Watercolor Crayons. So, the images are stamped in Stazon Black and then colored with WCC and an aqua painter. I cut out the butterfly, attached him with a glue dot, and added crystal effects to make him more sturdy. Don't ask me why the butterfly is a him, that's just what came out as I was typing. I used the Crop a Dile to make holes for the ribbon and brads. The flower panel is popped up. Hope you enjoy, and I'd love to see what you do with this sketch.

Easter Flip Album

I made this Flip Album for my in-laws because we spent Easter weekend with them and I wanted a nice way to share my photos. I got the idea and fabulous tutorial from Amy Celona over at ustamp4fun. The title was printed on my computer. I used Good Morning Sunshine DSP and Bright Delights rub ons to decorate the album. The album itself goes together very quickly. It took a bit of time deciding how to get the tons of pictures in that I needed to have in it. I can add more pictures if needed to really see what's going on with the album.

Wow! So, it's been a long week since I last posted. I apologize for not being more consistent lately. I am FINALLY feeling better; thanks for all your well wishes. I'm still working on getting the house under control after being sick for 3 weeks. We also had Teacher Appreciation Week last week, and preparing things for that took some time.
Ok, so here is this week's Mojo 86 Sketch. I love this chipboard and have been trying to find ways to use this adorable owl. My problem has been that he is rather large on a card, but I think this works well. I'll be back tomorrow to share a Flip Album I recently made.

I traced the owl onto DSP and cut that out. I then adhered that using Tombow Mono Multi glue. I did the same with the eyes and nose. The edges of the owl and parts are sponged with Kiwi Kiss ink. The pears are on Whisper White card stock, and the edges are also inked. I stamped the burst image in Kiwi Kiss on the card base and inked those edges as well. The owl is attached with large glue dots to pop him up a bit.

Mother's Day on Fifth Ave

I made this card last week using SCS sketch challenge 226.
I have to admit that I really dislike cutting out things. So, this is the first flower I've ever made like this. I think it turned out very well, and it was a very easy flower to cut. The only trouble I ran into was figuring out which lines to cut to make each layer.
I stamped the flower several times on Pink Pirouette and then cut out several different layers of the flower. I inked the edges of each layer to give more depth. Then, I just glued them all together.
I don't have a Mother's Day stamp, so I decided to just print it on the computer. I measured the size of the oval and then made an oval that size with a text box inside it to make sure it was the correct size. The sentiment layer is popped up with dimensionals, as is the whole flower.
I also inked the edges of the other panels and over the top of the embossed images.

No-Tie Bow Video

I received a link to try a new sketch, so I decided to give it a try. You can find it at Unscripted Sketches. My thought was that this would make a nice Mother's Day card.

I began by cutting an oval using the Coluzzle (4th line from the inside) on the top half of a Kraft card base. I then took a piece of DSP from Urban Oasis and cut another oval (5th line from the inside). Before moving anything, I cut another oval (4th line from the inside). When I cut all those apart, I was left with a border for my card base oval. I also made another one to adhere on the inside of the card.
I embossed the small flowers on the bottom of the card base in Sterling Silver. I cut a piece from the Baja dsp with light flowers to fit inside my card. I embossed the bird in Sterling Silver on that piece of DSP.
I stamped the greeting on Kraft and punched with the Large Oval punch. I also punched a piece of DSP with the Scallop Oval punch.
I adhered one piece of ribbon all the way around the card using glue dots. I made a no tie bow to go under the greeting piece.
There ya go. I'm thinking about doing a tutorial on those super easy no tie bows cause I'm in love with em.

Welcome back to me. Sorry I have been missing for a few days. I still am not feeling well; it's been a full two weeks since I've felt right. And I took my daughter on a trip to visit a friend over the weekend. I'll be back to regular posting now, hopefully.

This card is for this week's Mojo Monday 84. I sponged over the Summer Sun panel after I ran it through the Big Shot with the Eyelet Texturz Plate to give it a little more definition. I also sponged the edges of the Whisper White pieces. The two flowers are chipboard covered with card stock. I inked the word "friend" with a Chocolate Chip marker and stamped on the circle.

Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow to offer something a little more inspiring.

Sassy Mojo

I decided to make a sign for my craft room instead of a regular card with this week's Mojo Monday sketch.
I love the Bright Delights rub-ons, but I couldn't figure out how on earth to use the large "sassy" word. This was a perfect solution for me.
The Kiwi Kiss base is 6x6, and the DSP is 5 1/2x5 1/2. Everything has been heavily sponged with Chocolate Chip ink.
I love glitter, but I don't like how rough it feels. So, to do that part, I added a very thick layer of Crystal Effects and poured the Dazzling Diamonds over the top. After that dried, I added another very thick layer of Crystal Effects. The end result looks much like glitter glue. I think it turned out very nice.

Fabric Inspired Trendy Trees

After seeing an adorable market bag made with Amy Butler fabric in the April Fan Club on SCS, I had to get some of her super cute fabric. I'll share the project I'm using it for at a later date.
Anyway, the colors in the fabric really inspired me. And what better thing to do when inspiration hits than to make a card!! The layout is inspired by this card on SCS. I loved the very simple look of that card with the Trendy Trees set.

I am working on different layouts for adding pictures to my blog, so please bear with the different photo placements. I'm not sure I really like it like this, but I'll get it figured out eventually.

I have been feeling kind of yucky the last several days, and that leads to absolutely no creativity. Sorry.

So, I made this card today so I would have something to post. I think it turned out fairly well. I used an old Color Challenge over on SCS - tangerine tango, pixie pink, kiwi kiss. The photo doesn't show that all the layers, beside the bottom, are popped up. The top layers have Kiwi Kiss sponged on them and the underneath layers are rubbed across the Kiwi inkpad.

Have A Honey of A Day

I am trying to get better at coloring things, as that has never been one of my strong points. I used the aquapainter and ink smooshed on the pad lid to do the coloring. I blended the Bashful Blue and Sage Shadow (because I don't have Baja Breeze ink) to make the sky and ground. I colored the bee hive dark on the left side and pulled some color to the right for the rest of the hive. I also outlined everything with Chocolate Chip ink. The bee, the "Hive Sweet Hive", and the top note layer are popped up with dimensionals. To make the layered Top Note, I just cut around the perferation and sanded a bit when I was finished.

Manhattan Mojo

I created this card for this week's Mojo 82 sketch. This card came together pretty quickly, but I think it's missing something. Any ideas?

To make the flower, first I stamped it in Versamark and sprinkled it with Sterling Silver embossing powder. Then, I heat set it.
I took my Kiwi Kiss ink in the top of the inkpad and picked up some with my aquapainter. I only set it on the tip and along one inside edge of each petal. After cleaning the ink from the aquapainter, I pulled in a little of the ink into each petal. That gives a very subtle color to each petal of the flower.
I also put So Saffron ink in the center of the flower.
I put a small amount of 2-way glue pen in each petal and added Dazzling Diamonds. I only wanted a tiny amout of sparkle.

Beachy Kids

I took these photos my children this past weekend while in the Outer Banks, NC visiting my in-laws. Sometimes the best pictures are ones when the children aren't necessarily cooperating. Now, as for the Easter picture, that was the best we could do at that point. They just didn't want to stand still.

Rub-On Vases

First, I have to apologize for the photography. I am trying to get better, but glass vases don't photograph easily. I bought these vases at the $ store not knowing exactly what I was going to do with them. The rub-ons go on very easily. I just cut out what I wanted, stuck it on the glass, and rubbed over with it with the applicator.

This is a close-up of all three vases. I usually put the middle one on my table, alone, and the other two on either side of my mantle.

This was the first vase I tried. When I saw the border rub-ons in these colors I immediately fell in love. I actually wanted to put them on the collar of the vase, but I couldn't figure out a way to easily make them go around evenly since it is slanted. They turned out well on the bottom, though.

These were very simple to do, and probably took less than 5 minutes. It would be a very easy (and cheap but doesn't look too cheap) gift for someone. I bought the filler at Michael's and the flowers are old ones from Pottery Barn.

Fabulous Cupcake Friend

Still playing with my new stamps. After I finished this card, I realized it would be perfect for Valentine's if it had a heart instead of a cupcake. The lighting is a bit off, so all the details don't show very well. Sorry.

Here are a few extra details about how I did this card. I stamped the cupcake in Black Stazon and then put liquid applique on the top of the cupcake. I heat set it to "puff" the liquid applique. It looks so yummy! I used the inkpad and an aquapainter to color the rest of the cupcake, and I added a little of both colors of ink to the top of the liquid applique to give it a little something. The pink scallops have gel pen dots on them that don't show up very well. The middle Riding Hood Red layer is also put through the Big Shot with the large dots Texturz Plate. I made this card for this week's SCS sketch challenge.
We drove down to the beach last night, so here's to a relaxing Easter weekend!!

Easter Duck

So, first I have to share with you a cute "kids say the cutest things" thing. I have three children, DD - 9, DS - 3 1/2, DS 22mo. So ever since the middle DS has been able to say "duck", he has called them "wackys". It is super cute to hear a 3yo call a duck a wacky.
Ok, on to stampin stuff. I made this card for my mother-in-law to match the milk carton carrier from earlier. I also made it to go with this week's Mojo 81 sketch.

I colored the wacky with watercolor crayons. And because we don't have watercolor crayons in the In Colors, I used the inkpad with the aquapainter to do the egg. The Kiwi dots are just holes punched from the DSP. I just got this stamp set and the punches tonight. I love getting new goodies!! Enjoy.

Here is a card I made for our god daughter's 1st birthday. She is the second child of our best friends, and we moved away from them last summer. We are very sad not to be there for her first birthday, so I'll send a Happy Birthday shout out to Kate who turns 1 tomorrow!!

The inspiration for this card came from this super cute, cheery card on SCS. The crown is stamped on DSP and cut out then popped up on dimensionals. The top two panels are also popped up on dimensionals. The bottom layer is 4 x 4 1/2; next is 3 1/2 x 4 1/8; next is 3 x 3. All layers are matted to 1/16". I am really loving the Texturz Plates that Stampin' Up! has for the Big Shot, and I think this small dot pattern is my fav. It just gives the card that little something extra.

Nugget Cake

I love to make 3-d items. I saw a nugget cake over on SCS that was so cute I had to try it for myself. These are pretty easy to make, and they don't take too much time.

Accessories: 6" and 8" styrofoam disks, 46 Hershey's Nuggets (appx. 1 1/2 bags), Jumbo Brads, So Saffron ribbon, hot glue

Ok, so here's the how-to:
To cover the nuggets, cut strips of DSP 1" x 3". Wrap the paper around the nugget, securing both ends on the back of the nugget.
Trace the top of each disk onto So Saffron cardstock and cut out. Hot glue that to the tops of each disk.
I started with the 8" disk. Just hot glue each nugget onto the side of the disk, putting each one ask close to the previous as possible. I used 26 nuggets for this layer. My last nugget was a very tight fit. Oh, I tried several different types of adhesive, and hot glue was the best by far.
Repeat those same steps for the 6" disk. Only the last nugget probably won't fit all the way in its slot. You can either just push it in as far as it will go, or unwrap it and cut some off first to make it fit. Hot glue the 6" disk on top of the 8" disk.
I got the tutorial for the triangle box topper from Mocha Memories. I was very easy to make. Mine is just a little different because I didn't use cardstock and layer with DSP. I only used the DSP. Retro Cooking

A few months ago I decided to make a journal for my mom. I looked around trying to find the best way to make a paper frame for the front cover. After some playing around, I finally figured it out. I'll explain exactly how I did it below.
Her journal turned out so cute that I decided I needed to make a binder for myself.
Now I'm sure that none of you highly organized people have this problem, but I found myself printing out tons of recipes from the web to try. The papers would sit on the kitchen counter while we tried them out. They would get all yucky, so I would just toss them after dinner - knowing that I would remember where I found the recipe later if it was a keeper. Can you see where this is going??? I would totally forget where I found the recipe online because of course I didn't bookmark it either.
So the smart girl that I am, I decided to start keeping all of the recipes I printed. Well the next problem was that I would forget which recipes we liked and which ones weren't all that great.
In comes the idea to make a recipe binder. It has sections for Appetizers, Breads, Side Dishes, Main Dishes, Desserts, and To Try Recipes. I print out a recipe, try it, and either toss it or punch holes and put it in the binder.

To make the cover, I took two strips of DSP 2 1/2 x 9 1/2, two 2 1/2 x 11, and one 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock. Fold the two side strips to create a diagonal on the top and bottom. Adhere the top and bottom strips centered on the main panel, lining up the top and bottom edges. Then adhere the side strips over the top and bottom ones, lining up the corners. I hope that all makes sense.
The photo doesn't show it, but I stamped the star burst image randomly on the main panel and the inside pages.

So, now for a recipe.
Cinnamon Sugar Almonds
1 egg white
1 tsp cold water
4 c almonds - I buy the big bags at Costco or use the bulk bins at the grocery store
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Lightly grease 10x15 cookie sheet.
Lightly beat egg white; add water and beat until frothy but not stiff.
Add nuts and stir until well coated.
Mix sugars, salt, and cinnamon. Sprinkle over nuts. Toss to coat and spread evenly in pan.
Bake 1 hour, stirring occassionally until golden.
Hint: They will be chewy until they cool completely.

Bright Delights

Ok, I'm back after a day trip to DC with the family yesterday. It was a little crazy, but worth the effort because Kala is really old enough to appreciate these trips now.
This is the card I did for this week's Monday Mojo 80 sketch challenge. I am really pleased with the way it turned out. I am in love with the Retro Style Watch that Stampin' Up has right now. I love the colors, the graphics, and the accessories. You'll probably be seeing a lot of this type of stuff from me.
In the past, I've been bad about hoarding paper, rub ons, accessories, etc. But I'm determined to get out of the mindset that it can't be used. So, I'm using as much of it as possible. You know what, I'm really liking my projects a lot more because of it. So, go ahead, I give you permission to use all those products you buy.
Besides paper crafts, another passion I have is cooking. I'll be back tomorrow with a binder that I created for recipes that I print from the internet. Maybe I'll even throw in a good recipe.

For the last few weeks I have been doing the Monday Mojo Sketch over at http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/. I am really enjoying doing sketches because it gives me new and fresh ideas quickly.
Most of the time if I have to come up with a card completely from scratch, it takes FOREVER. Could that have anything to do with the three children running around keeping me from thinking clearly most of the time? Nah, never.

Here is my card for last week's sketch, Mojo79. I'm not sure it turned out great. That poor tree looks a little lonely to me. I tried sponging the edges of that panel with Kiwi Kiss, but it didn't really help much. I probably should have chosen a different DSP. The panel under the image panel is actually from the Sweet Slumber DSP; it's clouds in So Saffron. But they are so light that I think they get lost. Oh well, I tried. So here are the details:

Starting Out

So, I finally decided to take the plunge and start my own blog. This has been a long process, but I am looking forward to the benefits of having an online journal of growing creatively. I will list Stampin' Up! classes that I hold, projects that I've completed, and who knows what else. I hope you enjoy taking a journey with me.
